I realised something today. There’s a moment during your meditation where you finally relax and let everything go.
You sit, and you think you’re relaxed, you even send the signals to every part of your body to let go of all tension, but still you’re never quite relaxed. Your monkey mind keeps thinking thoughts and these thoughts create tensions in your body as you imagine running, cooking, fighting, cleaning. You don’t realise you’re doing it, but you are.
Then suddenly, as you manage to let go of most of your conscious thoughts, your body releases. You sit up straight, you start to balance, and you can finally start to forget about your body and bring your attention fully to your breath.
It happened to me today and it was such a relief when it did. I knew then that I’d done something right, that I was on the right path. It’s the tiniest of steps, but still it’s a step.
And just the physical relief of letting go is brilliant. It rarely happens in our daily lives, so to find a way to make it happen is a beautiful thing.
